Tinubu commences 2025 pilgrimage as Imo, Abia pilgrims depart from Sam Mbakwe airport

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, has officially launched the 2025 Christian Pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.

The event took place with Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the Chief Host, signaling the start of this year’s spiritual journey for Nigerian pilgrims. Governor Uzodimma generously sponsored 1,000 pilgrims from Imo State, covering all their expenses for the trip.

He expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government for its ongoing support in ensuring a smooth pilgrimage experience, highlighting the significance of this journey in reinforcing the faith and devotion of those participating.

The introduction of direct flights from Owerri to the Holy Land has been hailed as a significant achievement, making it easier for pilgrims from the Southeast to travel.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Board, Bishop Professor Stephen Adegbite, lauded Governor Uzodimma’s commitment, noting that “what he is doing is palpable even to the blind.”

The flag-off underscores the government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and providing opportunities for Nigerians to partake in spiritual enrichment through international pilgrimages.
