According to reliable sources, the presentation of possible successors for the INEC leadership marks a significant step toward ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system ahead of future polls.

On the same day, the Police Council will also convene to discuss key issues related to the establishment of state police, matters of national security, and strategies to enhance policing across the country.

The Council of State, which serves as an advisory body to the President, includes the President as Chairman, the Vice President as Deputy Chairman, all former Presidents and Heads of State, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, all state governors, and the Attorney General of the Federation.

Thursday’s twin meetings are expected to bring together major national figures and stakeholders to discuss decisions that could have far-reaching impacts on Nigeria’s governance and security architecture.

Both meetings come at a time when public expectations are high for decisive leadership and reform-driven policies to strengthen democracy and address rising insecurity nationwide.
