Toward 2027 election, Wike assures President Tinubu about Rivers State

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu can relax and sleep soundly as he anticipates the outcomes of the 2027 presidential election in Rivers State.

Wike emphasized that neither he nor his supporters would be pushed away or deterred from advocating for Tinubu’s reelection in the state.

“Rivers State is a place where the President can confidently sleep without worry,” he expressed.

Addressing supporters from both the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party during his visit to Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Saturday, Wike reflected on the support received from Rivers State in electing Tinubu in 2023 against significant odds.

He remarked that now that the advantages of their support are becoming evident, he will not allow anyone to come forward at the last minute to take credit.

“In 2023, we led the charge here. We were part of the Renewed Hope Agenda from the start and made the choice to back Tinubu,” he stated.

Wike criticized those who previously supported Atiku Abubakar and are now attempting to lead the Renewed Hope Agenda, questioning their legitimacy.

“They weren’t involved from the beginning; they didn’t contribute to our efforts. Now that things are improving, they want to step in and take the first share. That’s not going to happen. No one can displace us in this state,” he asserted.

Addressing potential distractions, he encouraged his supporters to remain undaunted, united, and focused on Tinubu’s reelection efforts.

The minister clarified that his visit aimed to express gratitude for the support received in 2023 and to remind the community to continue collaborating, promising that 2026 would yield even better results.

Earlier, Port Harcourt Mayor Sir Allwell Ihunda praised Tinubu for ensuring the existence of democratically elected council chairmen in the state, highlighting Wike’s impactful projects during his eight-year tenure as governor that improved the citizens’ lives.

“We are prepared to act on your instructions for 2027 as soon as they are given,” he stated.

Additionally, Mrs. Blessing Amadi, representing the Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency, recognized Wike for empowering women by appointing them as vice chairpersons in all local government areas, marking Rivers State as a leader in female representation.

“This state stands out in the country for its recognition of women, and we commend you for it,” she remarked.

Mr. Smart Adoki, also representing Port Harcourt II, thanked Wike for his risky support of Tinubu in 2023, noting that the people of Rivers are now benefiting from that decision.
