During a plenary session on Thursday, September 26, 2025, the Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Hon. Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi in place of Speaker Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, read and acknowledged the Governor’s letter regarding his return.

Initially, Governor Makinde had notified the House about his leave from August 29 to September 29, 2025, but he decided to end his vacation early in light of the culturally significant coronation event.

“I shall resume duty tomorrow, 26th September 2025, and hereby assume the full functions of the office of Governor of Oyo State,” the letter reads.

The Governor expressed gratitude to Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal for acting in his absence and announced that the Deputy Governor would now resume his regular duties.

House members welcomed the Governor’s decision and voiced their support for his dedication to the state’s cultural traditions.

The assembly unanimously approved the resumption notice and praised Governor Makinde for his leadership and commitment to an important milestone in Ibadanland’s history.

The session further reiterated the House’s endorsement of traditional institutions and commended the Government’s proactive measures for ensuring a successful coronation ceremony.
