IWD: Lagos govt honors female street sanitation workers, offers free health screenings

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Monday took the opportunity to acknowledge female street sweepers and other women in their ranks by providing free health screenings and special awards in recognition of their hard work for the 2026 International Women’s Day.

During the event held at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora Olopa, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, delivered a welcoming address. He explained that the initiative aimed to celebrate the commitment, strength, and valuable contributions of these women toward keeping the environment clean across the state.

During the celebration, five remarkable female street sweepers were recognized and gifted in appreciation of their hard work, commitment, and exemplary service to both the Authority and the State.
