Following recent assaults on officials of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) by certain employees and security personnel from Better Mart, Badore Road, in Epe, the Nigerian Police have arrested seven individuals connected to the incident.

In a statement issued by the General Manager of LASPA on their Facebook page, the agency affirmed its commitment to vigorously pursue legal action against those responsible for the attacks, up to the highest court levels.
Additionally, Mrs. Adelabu expressed that the state government condemns these offenses against its officials and highlighted that appropriate penalties will be enforced in accordance with existing laws.

She referenced Chapter 17, Section 117 of Nigeria’s criminal code, which states that “whoever obstructs or resists a public officer while they are performing their official duties commits a felony and is liable upon conviction to three years of imprisonment or a fine of 200 naira.”

Mrs. Adelabu reminded that all organizations and commercial centers must obtain parking permits from LASPA for effective parking management, and assured that the agency’s team will conduct regular checks.
She cautioned against any further assaults on LASPA personnel or any state government employees, warning that such actions will lead to severe consequences.
