The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has refuted claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, protested against former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The church stated that a widely circulated photo of Pastor Adeboye holding a placard during a public event has been misinterpreted as evidence of a protest against Jonathan.

RCCG clarified that the image was captured during a peaceful nationwide march organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) under President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure. This event aimed to highlight the violence against Christians and other innocent Nigerians while calling for improved security.
The church emphasized that Pastor Adeboye’s involvement in the walk in Ebute Metta, Lagos, was unrelated to the Jonathan administration and did not constitute a political protest.
His message during the event focused on the sanctity of all human life and advocated for the protection of both Christians and Muslims.

Moreover, RCCG pointed out that while Pastor Adeboye is a spiritual leader rather than a government official, he has been vocal about national issues. During the November 2025 Holy Ghost Service, he urged the government to take stronger measures against insecurity and address terrorism and its sponsors.
RCCG reiterated that Pastor Adeboye does not hold any political office, that the church is independent of any political party, and that neither he nor the church should be held responsible for the country’s problems.
The church encouraged the public to verify information through its official sources before disseminating claims about Pastor Adeboye, underscoring the need for accuracy and context.
