Nigerians don’t want 24-hour power because they can’t afford it — Activist Deji Adeyanju

Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has ignited discussions online by expressing his thoughts on what Nigerians really want from their electricity supply.

During an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Adeyanju stated that most Nigerians are not seeking continuous 24-hour power but rather dependable electricity during essential hours of the day.

He remarked, “Nigerians aren’t even looking for 24-hour power; could they even afford it? They simply want to return home at 8 PM to find electricity so they don’t sweat while sleeping, and have power at 7 AM to iron their clothes, after which the electricity can be redirected to factories.”

Adeyanju emphasized that Nigerians have modest expectations and should not be viewed as hard to please regarding power supply. “Nigerians aren’t asking for much; they’re actually the easiest to satisfy. How can this be considered excessive?” he questioned.
